MLS Round-Up

Toronto FC recorded their first win of the MLS season as they beat Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 on Saturday. Victor Vazquez and Jozy Altidore struck in the 76th and 80th minutes respectively to get last season’s runners-up off the mark after two draws.

Martinez struck twice in the second half while an own goal from Brandon Vincent and Hector Villalba’s effort made it a difficult night for the Fire, who had Johan Kappelhof sent off in the 11th minute.

Dominic Oduro’s second-half equaliser earned Montreal Impact a 1-1 draw at New York City FC, who had led through Rodney Wallace’s opener. Orlando City beat Philadelphia Union 2-1, the same score by which FC Dallas beat New England Patriots, Sporting Kansas City saw off San Jose Quakes and Los Angeles Galaxy beat Real Salt Lake City. Colorado Rapids drew 2-2 with Minnesota United and Portland Timbers came from 2-1 down to beat Houston Dynamo 4-2.

Reigning MLS champions Seattle Sounders recorded their first win of the season with a comfortable 3-1 victory over New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
