Newcastle Close in on Abraham

Newcastle United are hopeful of completing a deal to bring Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham to St James’ Park on a season long loan deal. Chelsea want assurances that the promising youngster will get enough minutes for Newcastle, before signing off on the deal. As shown with Christian Atsu last season, Rafael Benitez is sure to give Abraham enough time on the pitch and oversee the youngsters development next season.

Abraham, was on loan at Bristol City last season, where he bagged an impressive 26 goals. Some Newcastle fans have doubts about Abraham’s potential arrival, with some suggesting the club should buy players with Premier League experience. To those that do have doubts about Abraham, such doubts will disappear, when fans see Abraham’s quality for themselves. Abraham may be inexperienced at Premier League level, that does not mean he is not ready to make the step up. At 19, Abraham still has a lot to learn but there can be no doubts about his talent.

It is important that fans are realistic about the upcoming season, the club have just been promoted back to the Premier League. That means, Newcastle will need to become stabilised in the division, before attracting a host of big names to the club. With Mitrovic failing to provide the amount of goals originally expected and the likelihood of Daryl Murphy being moved on. It is vital that club do not over rely on Dwight Gayle, a player who has picked up a few injuries since the turn of the year. Tammy Abraham is young, hungry and most importantly possesses the quality to succeed in the Premier League. Rafael Benitez is likely to add to the striking department, after Abraham’s arrival.

We are well and truly into the silly season now, Newcastle have been linked with a ridiculous amount of players already. One thing is clear, Rafael Benitez wants at least 5 or 6 players signed by the time Newcastle players arrive back for pre-season training at the beginning of July. The arrival of Tammy Abraham will be a positive step, Benitez not only wants quality – But the correct characters to fit in perfectly with his Newcastle squad.

The Newcastle manager will be busy over the next month, working around the clock to bring in his targets before the start of pre-season. Benitez knows exactly what is needed to thrive in the Premier League, the fans must continue to trust the Spaniard’s judgement.
