Romelu Lukaku’s Next Decision is an Important One

With reports circulating that Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku has refused to sign a new contract at Goodison Park the next decision he makes with regards to his future will be a vital one.

Lukaku has proved over the last few seasons that he is up there with the best in the Premier League. The striker craves Champions League football, there is no doubt that there will be a number of top clubs monitoring his situation. If you look at the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal you would say they would be the most likely destinations if Lukaku were to stay in the Premier League. I couldn’t see the striker going back to Chelsea, especially with Diego Costa being the main man at Stamford Bridge. Manchester City, for now they have Sergio Aguero, Gabriel Jesus and Kelechi Iheanacho. If Aguero were to leave City in the summer then maybe Guardiola would look to Lukaku as a replacement.

I have said for a while now, if Harry Kane gets injured Tottenham will find it hard to cope without his goals, they do not have another striker that can provide them with a similar threat. Lukaku could fit in well at White Hart Lane, it would certainly be a statement of intent for next season from Tottenham if they were to sign the Belgium striker. Kane and Lukaku leading the line with Dele Alli in a number 10 role would be a terrifying sight for defenders.

Liverpool are in need of a good clear out in the summer, I have said that all season. In the summer, with Lukaku looking likely to be available Klopp will certainly be monitoring the situation. When Saidio Mane was at the African Cup of Nations, Liverpool really struggled. Roberto Firmino is a bit too inconsistent in my opinion. The Reds are in need of another option up front, especially with Daniel Sturridge looking set to leave Anfield this summer.

Then we have Arsenal, with speculation continuing over Arsene Wenger’s future at the club, there is a lot of uncertainty at the Emirates. Whoever is in charge at Arsenal next season, the Gunners are in need of some fresh faces. Lucas Perez is surprisingly out of favour, Alexis Sanchez’s future is up in the air and Danny Welbeck can’t keep out of the treatment room. Romelu Lukaku could add some much needed firepower to Arsenal’s attack next season.

Lukaku must think very carefully about his next move. The Everton striker needs to play, he cannot afford to make a wrong move and end up at a club where he is wasting his talent sat on the bench. I hope for Lukaku’s sake that the next move in his career is a good and sensible one. Everton will be desperate to keep a hold of their star player, with good reason too. Next season is a massive one for Everton, if they buy well in the summer and somehow manage to keep Lukaku, they could have a real chance of challenging for the top four places.

Lukaku has a few months to think carefully about his decision. I would hate to see him make the wrong one, especially for a player of his ability.
