West Ham Should Stick With Bilic

Slaven Bilic has had to deal with a lot this season, there is constant speculation about his position at the club, which does not make his job any easier.

West Ham moved from Upton Park to the London stadium, a transition that is never easy. Slaven Bilic has had so many injuries to deal with over the course of the season, on top of the ridiculous Dimitri Payet saga. It has not been a quiet season at West Ham United to say the least. It would have been difficult for any manager to have a successful season at the club with everything that has been going on.

Bilic is a great manager, he has proved that during his managerial career. Under his guidance, West Ham finished seventh with their highest ever Premier League points total 12 months ago.

Andy Carroll has had another season plagued by injuries. He is a fantastic player when he’s fit, Carroll can cause havoc on his day, unfortunately it is becoming a rarity for Carroll to stay fit for the majority of a season. Michail Antonio picked up a hamstring injury a few weeks ago, it remains to be seen whether he will make another appearance before the end of the season.

Though the club are not mathematically safe from relegation, it would take a big turnaround for the club to drop down into the Championship. With a tough game against second placed Tottenham on Friday night, Bilic will be hoping to stop speculation about his future with a win. West Ham should stay up this season, with everything that’s happened I would take that as a successful season. The club can then regroup in the summer, have their discussions on transfers and bring in a number of players that can help them kick on next season.

If the West Ham board back Bilic properly in the summer, I have no doubt they will have a much better season next time around. Moving to a new stadium was always going to be tough, Arsenal struggled with it at times at the beginning. Tottenham found out how hard it is as well, they struggled when playing their home games at Wembley in Europe this season.

West Ham need stability, the only way they can get that is by sticking with Bilic. Chopping and changing managers regularly isn’t good for a club, fortunately West Ham try and give their managers time. Bilic needs more time to take the club to the levels of last season.
